About

Founded in 2002 by scientists from MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Ferro Solutions (FS) develops systems that provide our customers with communication, magnetometer, and wireless power systems to solve problems that existing technologies cannot.

The company began with one SBIR contract with the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and has grown to work on projects with the Army, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In addition to our government sponsored research and development, FS works with commercial clients to provide development and engineering services in areas including magnetic wireless power and communications for medical devices.

We have applied our expertise in magnetic and piezoelectric materials, electrical engineering, and power management circuits in a range of environments from implanted medical devices to production oil & gas wells, and from rail cars to underwater sensors. Our first commercial product is a wireless charging system for use by medical researchers and grew out of an NIH SBIR program in collaboration with MIT.

The company is located in the Boston suburb of Woburn, MA.
